Wyatt Earp: Fashionista

I couldn't help but notice the small similarities between our past and our present.

Seems like cowboys were bigger hipsters than we thought. You might be confused about the last one. What better way to sound like a cowboy with spurs, than having jangling keys clink with every step. I just doubt hitting your bike with your carabiner will make it go any faster.

Day of Walk

Im a lazy bum who amounts to nothing and will never achieve anything in life.

Ok not exactly words of wisdom, nor the way i really feel about myself. But it makes me think of what i can be doing with my life. Everyday we drive our cars back and forth and it takes little to no time. Settlers traveled thousands of miles on foot and horse from the east and it took years and years just to get to CA.

Well I'm very organized when it comes to my day to day schedule. Looking over my iCal i see that on friday the only event i have scheduled is pay day at my work. I don't have to work, just go in and pick up my check and then leave. Nothing else is planned for the entire day. No school, no work, no music rehearsal, no nothing.

As a conclusion to my findings, I have decided not to sit on street carnage and facebook all day but to actually go out and look at Long Beach. It's really a beautiful city. But what good is looking at it if you are just going to be sitting in a car. That's why I have decided to walk from El Dorado Park to Portfolio coffee shop on 4th. I know, it's no Lewis and Clark grade hike, but i think this will give me a perfect walk through a good width of Long Beach.

Starting at ElDo, i make my way down Spring and deposit my check from work, make my way down Los Coyotes diag and onto Bellflower and PCH. Then a quick stop at Jamba Juice for a smoothie and a high five from Ryan. Then i walk down lovely 2nd street, followed by a slight left onto Ocean where i will get my best view of.....the ocean. Finally, i will turn onto Junipero, reach 4th, and arrive at my destination of Portfolio. Which of course i will celebrate by enjoying an iced americano and free wifi.

I put my excursion onto Google maps and it told me it'll be 10 miles and take about 3 hours and 20 min. I'll be taking this pretty leisurely so im expecting it'll be about 5 hours. If you noticed, this trip is one way. I don't mind walking home, but im assuming ill be pretty over walking after 5 hours. So if you know me well, and you own a car, expect a call from me in the evening on Friday.

Now, I know people who have biked all of highway 101(pch), or walked to half-dome in Yosemite. But the way i see it, what good is the city you live in if you don't appreciate it in its entirety. Yosemite looks beautiful, and im sure ill see it in person someday, but for now I'm starting small, and a little closer to home.

I'm sure if Lewis and Clark had Google Maps, they would have used it

Consider this my written contract, if i don't do this on friday, please kick me

FreeCreditReport.scam

Yea we all know the commercials, but have you ever been to the site?

A couple years ago when i was credit cardless(those were the days), i had a late payment on a credit card from my parents account, which also had me listed as a user. It was a payment for a school book and it screwed up my credit pretty bad. Every time i would apply for my own card, i would be declined due to a late payment. I was being declined left and right. So the next step would be to obviously check my credit score online.

Oh hey look! Catchy commercials telling me how to check my credit score for free! awesome

Needless to say i sign up for the website, fill out all my info, click agree to terms and get my score. I don't recall the number but it was pretty good i must say. Which caused a bit of confusion. But hey whatever, my score fine so im happy...... or am i?

You know those looney toons when Sylvester signs a paper by the devil but didnt read the fine print and it turns out he owes his soul to Beelzebub? Well I am the cat, and freecreditreport.com was satan.

In my print out of my credit score I noticed a tiny number deep in the fine print. When you see a big paragraph your eye just goes straight to the abnormality, which in this case were digits. I read the line that the number was on and it stated that although this credit report was free, next month i will be billed $14.99 to my bank account, and will be billed continually every month from then on..... WHAT?! This is far from free. What are they, cocaine dealers?

Post hastily i looked through all the pages and read all the fine print to find my way out. Luckily it wasn't that hard to break my devils contract, but it took a bit of digging. I mean $14.99 isn't the end of the world, but for someone who needs to know if there credit score is or isn't acceptable it could be. I'd say it's hardly an appropriate name for their website.

Maybe OneTimeFreeCreditReportAndThenWeRapeYouMonthly.com

Also, don't you wonder how a website pays for so much air time if their service is free?

I'm whole again

Would it be....I'm a whole again?
or....I'm an a-hole again?

Precious Metal

So the left ball of one of my two lip piercings has been missing for about a month+ now and I decided with the free time I had today and with my steady flow of tips lately I could pick up a new one. I had been to the kiosk at the mall before but decided it was time to find a nearby piercing shop and get me a new dern ball.

Looking up the shops in Long Beach, I found Somatic and also got referred to it by a friend. Done and done. On my way there and my lip can't wait.

I walk in and start waiting. There is a guy filling out some disclaimer, a girl behind him, and then me. Once the guy turns in his paper the girl in front of me gets her turn. Holy shit, she decides to ask the cost of about EVERY lip ring available. I mean, ALL of them. I could feel my bone marrow rotting. Anyways, once it became my turn the girl behind the counter left to help a couple in the back. Awesome. 2 minutes later a girl comes to help me (a different girl). I show her my lonely lip stud and she tells me they don't sell the ball to attach to my shaft (gigitty), but she CAN offer me a whole new piece completely. Great, i was considering buying a whole new one. How much is it......i ask. $28 she responds. Twenty eight American dollars?! holy shit!? What is this thing made of, moon rock? Hot Topic sells studs for $14 ea. and i thought THAT was expensive but $28, i nearly crapped a load in my underoos. I know for a fact steel prices have gone up, but $22 will get me a good 8 ft bar of scrap metal.

That's about the time i turned around, walked 30 feet and grabbed a cup of coffee at The Library for $1.80.....much more satisfying.

Although, in my 16 hours of waiting i happened to notice a sign posted on Somatic's wall. It was a little ad for "Tooth Gems." What? Tooth gems? say it.....tttoootthh ggeemmmss. Gems for your teeth. That's right folks, not only will Franny Faceholes stick a metal bar through your eyebrow, but she'll bedazzle your teeth. I didn't realize white was out. I guess it's cool to look like you have braces....well, just one brace. But don't worry, they are only $30 per gem. Thank god for that. I didn't realize Warren Buffet was a #1 customer. I mean, they need to pick these things up with tweezers! If im spending $30 i want a forklift to give it to me in the parking lot. And anyways, if i wanted to look like i had food in my teeth i'd spend my money on a pepper sandwich.
Well, once I got to The Library it was an iced coffee study sesh/catching up on streetcarnage's posts. A good substitute for being constantly unbalanced facially. I guess i will be seeing that kiosk again sometime soon.
