Pad and Quill

One of my Christmas presents this year was an awesome Pad and Quill phone case. Disguised as a Moleskin notebook, it also offers some good screen protection. Unfortunately upon taking my first picture that needed a flash I found its downfall. The flash hits the wooden part of the case and reflects back into the lens creating a foggy snowstorm of a picture. The photo below shows an example with/without the case.

It's a good case disregarding the flash issue. Luckily I'm not a big fan of using the flash to begin with so I'm sticking with it. They make ones for iPads as well if that's your thing.

Forgetsy

I just tried a feature that Etsy provides that takes all of the info from your friends facebook pages and suggests gifts they would like. Pretty friggin nifty if you ask me. Apparently I need to buy my girlfriend a Lil Wayne t-shirt and Nirvana garden stones.
Pretty helpful if you're stumped on gifts.

The Most Wonderful Time

"....There'll be parties for hosting
Marshmallows for toasting
And caroling out in the snow
There'll be scary ghost stories
And tales of the glories of
Christmases long, long ago...."

Wait did he say ghost stories? Yes.... "there'll be scary ghost stories", right there it says it. Who is telling ghost stories on Christmas?! And what could possibly be labeled as a Christmas time ghost story?

".... and when she checked her stocking in the morning, all that was in it was a severed head with words carved into it's forehead..... 'Ho, ho, ho.' Well goodnight!"

Isn't Christmas about happy times? Aren't the only ghosts involved here to tell us to be nicer to Tiny Tim? A part of me thinks that if we aren't telling ghost stories, and Andy Williams thinks we should, we might as well start. He seems like a pretty smart guy.

Im pretty confused on the subject already.

I've got it! "Christmases long long ago."? He must be from the future! The future that contains an evil robot santa who thinks everyone is naughty, and now he just sings about past Christmases to cope with the new crappy one. It all makes sense now.

Give and Receive: Xmas Gifts 2009

So I received some gifts for Christmas as most people do; out of all of them, two were given to me in order to enhance the blogging experience.

Gift #1: A Flip HD camera

Now not only can I add photos to my entries, but also short and annoying videos that I will film with this little guy. Also, what better reason to make a Vimeo account than having a small HD video camera, eh? Although I just found out that if you don't pay for your account then you can only upload 1 HD video a week. Oh well, I still like their embedded player better than YouTubes.

Gift #2: The Elements of Style

Now don't all crap your pants at once you hipsters who want to know how to mess up your hair perfectly. This book is far from a guide to looking good. The Elements of Style was originally written in 1918 by William Strunk, a professor of english, outlining the major points to good American writing. Then revised a number of times from 1959 to 1979 by author E.B. White (Charlotte's Web, Stuart Little). With this piece of literature, you can expect to see less spelling errors and use of english that isn't not very good for me writing. Sometimes the best gifts are the ones you don't ask for.

I also got a bunch of clothes that I am more than happy with, the Where The Wild Things Are soundtrack, the Pixar Shorts DVD, a new cologne…. ladies, and a 12 pack of beer.

Happy Boxing Day

Don't put on your red gloves America. Enjoy your Boxing day like any other European and bring out your cold Christmas meats and make a big, cold lunch with your family.

Also take advantage of after Christmas sales in the true Boxing Day fashion.

Fuck you Paul Rudd

Now that's it is Christmas time and all the holiday songs are playing; every time I hear Let It Snow, I can't help but say "The weather outside is weather." I guess I should be mad at Kunu, but still.

A rapport for decor

As Oncley tradition goes, the Sunday after Thanksgiving is reserved for family decorating. This year we stuck with this trend putting aside the fact that my Mother was out of town to visit her sick uncle/my godfather. We want her to come home to a beautiful house that looks like the ghost of Christmas spirit took a dump indoors. I think we all achieved this, and I feel I can know listen to Christmas music and not feel guilty for neglecting the month of November.

Our first xmas decorating the new living room

I might add, after we forced Jack Frost to puke his holiday guts out, we all enjoyed a cake 'n cup. What is cake 'n cup you ask? I guess you've never bought from the school catalogues that kids bring by door to door to raise money to...do something, i don't know. It was good though.

"Oh, this is the best cake in a cup ever. This guy is unbelievable. He ran the old Cup 'o Cake guy out of business. People come from all over to eat this."

Beaver

Holy crap. what a great christmas eve!
i had work at 11, whatever. but then my whole family sat down and ate a duck dinner. it was just like the scene from A Christmas Story when they go to the chinese restaurant....only we made it ourselves. THEN we all played catch phrase.....me and my sis won. that was followed by xmas charades....me and my mom worked my sis and dad. After that we opened our stockings, oncley tradition for xmas eve night. i got a lot of air fresheners since apparently i smell in every aspect of life. Then we all sat down by the fire and watched A Christmas Story, it was a toss up between that, Home Alone, and Meet Me In St. Luis. Now im in bed watching adult swim and on my laptop. too good. and tomorrow i get REAL gifts. sa-weet.
i feel like the cleavers! well.....the cleavers on the verge of 2009.
